See a short video on how other students have benefited from a job shadow.

Area schools have been forced to eliminate out of classroom experiences
due to budget shortfalls.
How will this generation know about career opportunities with your industry?

On-site Exposure To Your Career Options
Job shadows are available to high school students to further investigate the options of a given career field. Students spend part of a day with a group or an individual knowledgeable about the profession of interest.

The value this experience provides is based on research that shows a workplace connection creates relevance, guides career and educational goals, and connects regional employers with graduates. Allowing students to observe workplace activities, discuss the education and training required, and find out what qualities are desired in a potential employee.

During the 2007-08 school year 227 student job shadow placements took place in the areas of engineering, business, healthcare, manufacturing, small engine, trades, and law enforcement.

"I was surprised to learn (from the Job Shadow at CTC) that there are more job opportunities than I thought when pursuing a career in business."  - Katie, Brainerd High School Student
