Academy Basics
Bridges Career Academies are designed to build connections between classroom learning and the world of work. Academy courses are organized around a specific career pathway and are built in two ways: Disciplinary and Interdisciplinary.
Disciplinary Academies are courses within a career technical education (CTE) department such as manufacturing or agriculture. Interdisciplinary Academies combine courses from other departments such as natural resources, art, and math to create a specific career-themed Academy.
All Academy course curriculum provide students with basic academic and technical/career skills along with employability skills that are essential to that career pathway. Another important aspect of the Academy courses is that students must participate in a business experience related to the Academy, for example: listening to a speaker, attending the Bridges Career Exploration Day, or even having a part-time job.
